February Classes Announced

Our teachers have been hard at work planning tons of new classes for 2016! We’ve just announced our February selection: check it out!

Magic Loop Mittens

Learn how to knit mittens using the Magic Loop method! You never need to struggle with the double point needles again! Anne says this “magical” method makes knitting mittens a breeze!  After learning the technique, you can use the magic loop method for everything from socks to sleeves in the round. It will be your new favorite technique!

Class Level: Beginner (Student should be proficient in basic knitting skills)

Snowdrift Cowl Adventure

Are you ready to take your knitting to the next level? The Snowdrift Cowl pattern from Swans Island has several fun knitting techniques to explore. It starts with a provisional cast-on, uses chart reading to work the pattern, involves a cable with a twist, finishes with the Kitchener stitch over the ribbed pattern, and UNRAVELS stitches in the middle of the knitting! Don’t worry, you will be guided through each step to completing this beautiful cowl.   Please pick up a project information sheet when you register for the class so you can pack the “equipment” needed for this adventure.

Double knitting

Double knitting allows you create a two-sided fabric by knitting both sides at the same time. It’s a great way to make warm accessories, and it’s fun to do. This one-session class teaches the technique through the creation of a coffee and tea potholder set.

Skill level: Intermediate. Student should be very comfortable knitting and purling and able to fix most mistakes.

Cost: $20 includes pattern information and graphs

UFO Clinic

Did you resolve to dive in and work on that pile of unfinished knitting projects this year? We can help! Come to the UFO Clinic for motivation and advice. Bring your knitting and the pattern.  We’ll work together to get the project completed so you can move on to something new. Class size is limited so sign up early!

Knit a Simple Sweater

The first week will be spent on measurements and getting started.  The pattern choices are for worsted weight or DK weight yarn.  Your sweater can be a pullover or cardigan with a crew neck or v-neck.  Sleeve length is also a choice.  The DK weight pattern also has texture or stripes.  Join us to knit a simple sweater – that fits.

Ravelry 101

Always wondered why everyone raves about Ravelry, but not had the time to figure it out? This one-session class is for you!  Learn how Ravelry can be the best tool in your knitting bag.

Beginners and Beyond (Knitting)  

Cost:  $10/2hr session

New knitters will learn to cast on, to work the knit stitch and the purl stitch, to bind off, and complete your first project. Knitters beyond the basics can come for guidance as you work on your project.

Kids Knit

**New session starts Tuesday, February,2

This class is for kids 8 years old and up who want to learn to knit.  Students will learn to knit and purl and will complete a pair of fingerless mitts as their first project. This class meets 3 times per month on Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. Come join the fun!

Cost: $30/month, payable at first class of the month plus supplies

Building Blocks

The Building Blocks Afghan is a series of 12 fun patterns that will grow your knitting skills – starting with simple knit and purl stitches.  Each square, or block, builds upon the skills learned in the previous patterns, giving knitters more confidence and knowledge.  At the completion of the series, the reward is an abundance of knitting know-how along with 12 gorgeous blocks to assemble into a sampler afghan.  Level: Advanced Beginner. This is NOT a learn to knit class. You should have a basic understanding of knitting and be comfortable with casting on, knit and purl.

Building in Color

A carefully designed sequence of patterns aimed at introducing knitters to the wonderful array of stitches and techniques used in color knitting.
